Tran Huynh Duy Thuc

Entrepreneur & Advocate

We’d like to introduce you to Tran Huynh Duy Thuc – a brilliant entrepreneur and a tireless advocate for human rights in his homeland. He is an articulate lobbyist for healthy economic reform, and the rule of law in his country.

After many years experiencing first-hand the endemic corruption and social inequality in Vietnam, Thuc felt the need to seek solutions for his country as a responsible citizen. Through his writings, he pointed out severe weaknesses in Vietnam’s economic policies and warned state leaders and citizens of an inevitable crisis in the absence of thorough reform. Despite dangerous consequences soon to follow in the prevalence of severe oppression of freedom of speech in Vietnam, Thuc fervently advocated for healthy economic reform, and the rule of law in his country, so that the great wealth of talent within his people and culture can flourish. With a strong belief in the uppermost respect of human rights for Vietnamese people as the crucial foundation for sustainable development, together with his associates. Thuc prepared a movement to call on Vietnamese people to help revive the country and to become true and responsible citizens. Unfortunately, their plan was left unfinished as they were all arrested in 2009. At the trial in 2010, refusing to confess to any of the false charges brought against him, Thuc was sentenced to 16 years in jail. He still remains in prison since then.

Thuc once said during a family’s prison visit: “Dare to dream and hold on to your dream, sooner or later it will come true.” We share his view, and we believe you do also. Therefore, we would like to call on you, democracy believers, human rights defenders to support us with one voice to secure the release of Mr Tran Huynh Duy Thuc.

We will update all information necessary about the appeal

Thanks for your attention.
